Biography:

Majoring in theater at Connecticut College and training at the National Theatre Institute, he went on to work in numerous theater productions, television commercials and TV series. Scott Lowell has appeared onstage in The Creation of the World and Other Business, Orwell Down and Out, Jacques and His Master, Much Ado About Nothing, and Laughter on the 23rd Floor. He has also done ads for Nike, Subway, Lexus and Budweiser, and worked on the TV shows Early Edition, Caroline in the City, Frasier , and American Dad .

Ted Schmidt is played by Scott Lowell in the Showtime television drama series Queer As Folk. An accountant who has a hard time at romantic relationships or even just sexual partners, he overdoses on the drug GHB at one point and ends up in a coma. Ted is also fired for viewing pornography while at work, though he then starts his own website and business “jerkatwork.net.” His operation is shut down by the authorities, however, when it's discovered that his assistant and lover Emmett is underage. Ted then despairs and turns to drugs, especially crystal meth, and goes as far as stealing from a young boy's trust fund to fuel his addiction.
